WARANGAL: The Bharatiya Janata Party launched a padayatra from Ichampally to Hyderabad demanding that the government take up the Ichampally irrigation project immediately.

BJP State unit president Bandaru Dattatreya, who flagged off the padayatra at Bhupalpally town in the district on Tuesday, said that since the SRSP became defunct with poor inflows, silt accumulation and upcoming projects in Maharashtra, Ichampally would only solve the problems people of Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam districts. Ichampally project was one of the long-pending demands of the people, but the successive governments failed to take up the works, he added.

A six-member delegation led by BJP district unit president N. Rajamouli were taking part in the padayatra from Bhupalpally to Hyderabad, which would conclude on February 14.
