Praja Rajyam cadres and Chiranjeevi Fans Association members quit party

ADILABAD: Praja Rajyam (PR) president K. Chiranjeevi’s decision to support with the united Andhra Pradesh forces drew considerable antagonism from his own partymen and others in Adilabad district on Thursday. Not only have the PR cadres and the Chiranjeevi Fans Association members quit the party but vowed to work towards achieving Telangana State.
The resignations were announced at a press conference by PR leaders Chilkuri Tirupati and several others who said they were pained at the actor turned politician going back on his stand.
They said Chiranjeevi’s stand was condemnable as he bowed to the pressure exerted by leaders from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Meanwhile, flexi posters warning Chiranjeevi and Jr. NTR of banning exhibition of their movies in Telangana region appeared at important places. Telangana Rashtra Samiti activists also staged protests by burning the flexi posters at some places.
Banner of revolt
Nalgonda Staff Reporter adds: Majority of the party leaders including the cadres raised a banner of revolt against the party leadership on Thursday. Senior leaders including the PR district president Dubbaka Narasimha Reddy, Yuva Rajyam Telangana in-charge K Jawaharlal and others have decided to quit the party in protest against the decision of Chiranjeevi.
The agitated leaders and cadres have initiated parleys with the pro-Telangana leaders.
Activists staged a demonstration at the Clock Tower centre and set fire to the effigy of Chiranjeevi.
