Keeping Andhra Pradesh united and providing Constitutional or statutory measures to address the core socio-economic concerns about the development of Telangana region, as suggested in the sixth option by the Srikrishna Committee, should be accepted without further delay, the leaders of Samaikyandhra Joint Action Committee (Krishna district unit) said here on Friday.

The leaders met at Freedom Fighters Association hall to discuss the report of the Srikrishna Committee.

Former Minister Mandali Buddha Prasad in a statement after the discussion said that the JAC welcomed the report that made it quite clear that the present problems of the state would not be resolved by breaking it up. Remaining united was crucial to the development of the state and also in the interests of the nation as per the report, he said.

The Central government and political parties should, therefore, bring down curtains on the issue without any further delay, he suggested.

Former Minister Devineni Rajasekhar quoting the report said that Telangana would benefit more by remaining with Andhra and Rayalaseema regions and it would lose out if it separated from the rest of the state.

Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu appealed to the students of Telangana not to be used by some politicians who were acting out of “vested interest”. The Srikrishna report should be taken to the people of Telangana to undo the damage done by these vested interests, he said.

Samatha Party leader V.V. Krishna Rao said that the will of the minorities and weaker sections was also for an undivided state. It was not proper to undermine their aspirations.

Backward classes leader G. Gangadhar said that the Srikrishna report was the first comprehensive and scientific report on the developments in the State. The breaking up of states into smaller bits was actually a fascist agenda.

Student JAC convenor Devineni Avinash said that students welcomed the Srikrishna Committee report that took into consideration the future of the younger generations, their educational and career prospects. He appealed to the students of Telangana to work like “brothers” with the students of Andhra and Rayalaseema regions for the development of the state and their golden future.
