Keep in view problems faced earlier, says Minister
Coordination committee formed, says Collector
VISAKHAPATNAM: Arrangements must be made keeping in mind the problems faced by pilgrims in the past during the Chandanotsavam of Sri Varaha Lakshminrusimha Swamy to be celebrated at Simhachalam on May 16, Minister for Tribal Welfare P. Balaraju said during a meeting held here on Saturday to review the arrangements being made for the annual festival.
Drinking water, food and prasadam should be supplied to the pilgrims and the queue lines must be properly regulated, he said. Arrangements like transport to the hill, power supply, generators, lift, a medical camp, parking areas, sanitation, security, etc. were discussed and instructions were given to Executive Officer Prem Kumar to make the arrangements.
Mr. Balaraju also wanted the VIPs and others to cooperate with the officials to ensure that the Chandanotsavam was held without causing problems to the pilgrims.
Collector J. Syamala Rao said a coordination committee had been formed with Joint Collector P. Bhsakar as its head to make arrangements for the festival. A meeting of officials of the departments concerned would be held again, he said.
