Polling to be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; booths set up for all constituencies

Srikakulam: As the officials concerned set the stage ready for the election to the Local Authorities Constituency, leaders in both the Congress and the TDP started making a last minute bid to woo electors. With the TDP announcing support to the independent candidate, Gorle Haribabu Naidu, who was expelled from the Congress for contesting against the official candidate Tankala Babji, the contest for the LAC became straight. The Congress is in an unenvious position of not being certain of its candidates victory even though it has the numbers in its favour. Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao who has been camping here for the last couple of days is leaving no stone unturned to ensure victory of party's candidate. The TDP on the other hand is in an unflattering position of working for the defeat of the official Congress candidate by supporting an independent candidate and withdrawing from the contest its own candidate Chintu Sudhakar.
