Officials told to form committees
ELURU: The district administration is preparing ground for the launch of ‘Badi Baata’ programme in West Godavari district from June 12 to 27.
District Collector G. Jayalakshmi held a meeting with the mandal-level officers from the Education department here on Friday to take stock of the arrangements. She wanted the officials to constitute mandal level ‘Core Committees’ with the respective Mandal Parishad Presidents as Chairpersons and Mandal Education Officers, Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) members, Tahsildars, Mandal Parishad Development Officers, Mandal Resource Persons, Mandal Literacy Officers and NGOs members for implementation of the programme in all the mandals.
The Collector proposed to hold a meeting with the elected representatives on June 9 in all the mandals to ensure coordination between the elected representatives and officials in implementing the programme. A literacy programme with the involvement of local public representatives to be held on June 18 will also form part of the campaign.
The Collector appealed to the officials involved in the campaign to approach the philanthropists willing to contribute to the cause of literacy. The funds collected from the donors may be spent for purchase of pens and note books.
A rally with the involvement of children will be organised on June 13. Ms. Jayalakshmi instructed the Education department officials to collect the field-level data on the out of school going children. She urged the officials to keep a close watch on the school dropouts and out of the school children enrolled in schools during the campaign for a period of three months.
