CPI-ML calls for bandh
The Communist Party of India (M-L) has given a call for State-wide bandh on Tuesday, April 9 protesting against the steep and frequent hike in the power tariff by the State Government. Ten Left parties together will organise this bandh opposing the Rs.6,173 crore burden on people, said CPI(ML) party leader Muppalla Bhargavsri at a press conference in Vijayawada. Fuel charges are also being collected surreptitiously, he said. A nine-point demand has been put forward and that would be pursued. Meanwhile, the CPI (M) city leader Ch. Babu Rao led a dharna at Kandrika in the city for serving bills to people with enhanced fuel charges.
