Record unloading at Vizag portA record quantity of 7,848 metric tones with a gang shift output of 872 metric tons of carbon coated steel pipes were discharged at Vizag port from MV Star Providence at West Quay1 berth on Monday. This exceeds the previous record quantity of 6,563 tonnes with a gang shift output of 547 tonnes discharged from MV Sibulk Integrity on July 29. A VPT press release said Reliance Gas Transportation Infrastructure Limited imported the cargo. Srivalli Shipping and Transport is the stevedore, Samsara Shipping Private Limited is the steamer agent for the ship.
Cultural fete The NTPC Simhadri organised a cultural programme of Kuchipudi and Bharat Natyam dances in connection with Ganesh utsav celebrations recently. The programme was organised by Rukmaji Rao and troupe of Nritya Kala Bharati, Visakhapatnam. NTPC Simhadri unit's GM R. Venkateswaran, his wife Janaki Venkateswaran and additional GM (O and M) P.R. Archaka federation member deadSecretary of the State Archaka federation and general secretary of the Visakhapatnam (north Andhra) Archaka Sangham Kothalanka Suryanarayana who had been ailing for some time, died at a private hospital on Wednesday. He was 52 and is survived by wife and three children. He was responsible for securing houses to 200 poor Brahmins under VAMBAY, said president and assistant secretary of the district association Rejeti Adiseshu and A.S. Deekshitulu. Visakha I MLA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, former MLA S.A. Rehaman, Deputy Commissioner of Endowments P. Ramachandra Mohan, Assistant Commissioner M.V.V.S. Vishnu Prasad and others condoled the death.
