Pension applications

The VMC is inviting applications from candidates for pensions under phase-II of the Indiramma programme between March 30 and April 7. White ration cardholders staying alone and above 65 years of age, widows above 18 years of age, persons with 40 per cent disability and weavers above 50 years of age are eligible.

Bank branch opened

Krishna district SP Murugesh Kumar Singh on Wednesday inaugurated the branch of Union Bank of India at Machilipatnam. Deputy general manager T.L.V. Rao and manager K. Narasimha Rao were present.

BSNL revises tariff

The BSNL has revised the tariff, minimum guarantee, security deposit, commission structure and pulse rate for Public Call Offices from April 1. All the local PCOs would be given STD facility (by dialling the digit 0). The pulse rate would be 60 seconds for local and within the State and 20 outside the State.

The unit call rate for PCOs would be Re. 1.

Man run over

Datla Venkanna (40) of Ibrahimpatnam, toddy-tapper, was run over by a lorry at Nallakunta village on the city outskirts on Wednesday, police said.

In another case, silver ornaments weighing 1.25 kg were found missing from a temple at Devi Nagar on Wednesday. Committee president Madineni Krishna Rao lodged a police complaint.
