Army officer Major General Ashish Rao, accompanied by other officers, called on District Collector G. Kishan here on Thursday.

The officer apprised the Collector about the army preparedness to take up relief and rehabilitation operations if required. He told the Collector that they had 100 expert personnel and one medical team. He also said that they had all the equipment needed – small, big, country and mechanised boats. He wanted the district administration to use the services of the army in view of heavy rains in the district.

Mr. Kishan thanked the officer and explained to him the efforts of the district administration. The district has in place a disaster management committee comprising officials from various departments.
