TIRUMALA: On the second day of the ongoing nine-day annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara on Tuesday, the processional deity of Lord Malayappa Swamy mounted atop the golden ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’ was taken out in a grand procession around the Mada Streets encircling the shrine. Thousands of devotees congregated all along the streets to catch a holy glimpse of the deity donning ‘Krishnavatara’. Later in the afternoon ‘Snapana Thirumanjanam’ (celestial bath) was performed to the deities inside the main temple complex. The TTD, which has dispensed with the performance of the ‘arjitha Sahasra Deepalankara Seva’ conducted it in the evening at the ‘unjal mandapam’ situated outside the temple on the lines of ‘Sarkar seva’.
The day came to an end with the procession of the deities on the golden ‘Hamsa vahanam’ around the Mada Streets in the night. Bringing in some kind of respite to the visiting devotees the temple management, which had cancelled all the ‘arjitha sevas’ and darshan tickets on recommendation letters, however issued the Rs.100 cellar entry tickets. The darshan tickets were issued to all the devotees without any discrimination.
