NALGONDA: A group of villagers comprising pro-Telangana activists detained two field staff of APTransco and tied them to a tree at Anneparthy when the latter entered into the village to collect electricity bills on Wednesday.

According to sources, the villagers turned furious on noticing two field staff of APTransco collecting the power bills in the village in the afternoon.

They tied the duo to a tree near the gram panchayat office and raised slogans against collection of power bills till the formation of separate Telangana state.

The protesters freed the staff an hour later.

Speaking on the occasion, Anneparthy MPTC member Naveen Goud said that they would take up non-cooperation movement above party affiliations to press for formation of a separate Telangana at the earliest. We would chalk out a future course of action in this regard soon, he said.
