NELLORE: To encourage artistes in APSRTC, the corporation has decided to allot about Rs 7.50 lakh per annum to Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Sports and Cultural Organisation (ARTSCO), said RTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director V. Dinesh Reddy.

Speaking at the valedictory function of the 33rd State-level Samskrutotsavams at Sri Venkateswara Kasturba Kalakshetram on Monday night, Mr. Reddy said the corporation used to allot Rs. 5.50 paise on each employee to the ARTSCO every year (Rs. 5.50 lakh for year).

To give more support to the artistes, the RTC has decided to increase the amount to Rs. 7.50 per head per annum, he said.

The APSRTC is operating about 21,000 buses and is transporting nearly 1.30 crore passengers to various destinations every day. The corporation is employing about 1.15 lakh employees, he said.

Earlier, RTC Chairman M. Satyanarayana Rao said the management will be in the forefront in supporting the ARTSCO. He appreciated the employees who performed during the three-day Samskrutotsavams in the city.

Best play and playlets

‘Seshardham’ performed by Karimnagar zone artistes has been selected as the best playlet while ‘Manishai Puttinavadu’ exhibited by Vijayawada zone has been awarded the second best playlet.

‘Punadi’ performed by Vizianagaram zone employees bagged the first prize in best play category and `Mruta Sanjeevini’ performed by Hyderabad zone artistes has been selected the second best play in Samskrutotsavams.
