The proprietors of stalls and canteens in the APSRTC depots in the district on Tuesday organised a demonstration in the city with a plea to the RTC management for waiver of the rentals for their business establishments during the period of the indefinite strike launched by the RTC employees in support of the Samaikyandhra agitation.

They made a representation to R. Rama Rao, Regional Manager of the APSRTC, asking him to consider their request on humanitarian grounds. Mr. Rao said he would forward the petition to the RTC Managing Director.

The APSRTC receives the proceeds of Rs. 15 lakh in the form of monthly rentals from the proprietors of stalls and canteens from all the six depots in the district.

The APSRTC Stalls and Canteens Contractors Association president Ch. Durga Rao and secretary P. Kutumba Rao explained to the Regional Manager that the stalls and the canteens they established on the premises of the RTC depots were closed for want of customers on account of the agitation.

As a result, it became highly difficult for the managements of the stalls and canteens to pay the rentals during the two months period of the strike, they said.
