On the 71st day of the agitation, the APNGO association members forced the closure of all Central government offices, including the Telephone Customer Service Centres at Brodiepet and Chandramouli Nagar.
The association’s Guntur chapter president D. Dayananda Raju led a group of members to the two BSNL offices and forced them to close down their offices. Mr. Raju said that government employees have been observing strike for more than two months now and urged the BSNL employees to show solidarity.
Earlier, students of Chalapathi Educational Institutions took out a rally from NTR Municipal Stadium and converged at Potti Sriramulu Centre where they laid a siege to the junction for some time. Addressing the students, Chalapathi Institute of Technology, Lam, Principal, P. Suresh Babu and director Kodali Srinivas spoke on the perils of bifurcation.
The students played tug-of-war, cooked meals and had lunch on the road and staged other forms of protest expressing their resentment over the decision to divide the state.
President of Joint Executive Committee-Education JAC of private educational institutes, Gangineni Venkateswara Rao and management association JAC president Koye Subba Rao were present.
At NTR Municipal Stadium, members of the stadium staged mock protests.
