Public meeting organised to mark conclusion of ‘Praja Patham'
VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) has been given 1,500 acres at Hanuman Junction to develop Krishna district on the industrial front, said Minister for Animal Husbandry K. Parthasarathy on Saturday.
He was addressing the ‘Rededication Day' public meeting organised at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium on the occasion of conclusion of Praja Patham and completion of one-year in office of the Congress government.
Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu presided over the meeting, which was attended by district Collector Peeyush Kumar, Zilla Parishad Chairperson K. Nageswara Rao, Mayor M.V. Ratna Bindu, MLAs Jogi Ramesh, D.Y. Das, Perni Venkataramaiah, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah and others.
Mr. Parthasarathy admitted that the district lagged behind industrially though it was well ahead of other districts in agriculture.
The handing over of land to the APIIC would augur well for industrial development of the district and provide employment to the unemployed.
Paying rich tributes to former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the Minister said present Chief Minister K. Rosaiah was striving hard to take forward the welfare schemes initiated by Dr. Reddy.
He said foundation stone would soon be laid for the super speciality hospital and work would also be taken up for construction of flyover at Benz Circle and widening of the highway at Kanakadurga temple.
