A piquant situation has arisen over the government exercise to fill the post of Chairman for the A.P. Electricity Regulatory Commission, with questions being raised over the propriety of continuing Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew and A.S. Bakshi, Chairman, Central Electricity Authority, as members of the selection committee.
These critics are among the many in service and retired IAS officers who had applied for the post.
Eyebrows have been raised by them as they contended that both Ms. Mathew and Mr. Bakshi had also applied for the post.
“They cannot continue as members of the selection committee and, at the same time, be in the line for the post,” a senior retired IAS officer told The Hindu on the condition of anonymity.
The third member of the three-member committee constituted by the government recently is a sitting judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court.
