APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana has decided to go slow on appointing new in-charges of the District Congress Committees (DCCs) after facing resistance from some leaders named to head the district units.
Mr. Satyanarayana faced a piquant situation last week when Kandula Sivananda Reddy flatly refused to accept the responsibility after being named to head the Kadapa DCC.
Left with no option, the PCC chief issued fresh orders on Friday stating that M. Ashok Kumar would continue as the president.
In the last 10 days, Mr. Satyanarayana had named DCC in-charges for Medak, Srikakulam, Vishakapatnam, Chittoor, Guntur, Warangal, West Godavari, Kadapa and Karimnagar.
The appointments of new in-charges in Medak and Warangal hit a roadblock with the outgoing chiefs faulting the unceremonious manner in which they were dropped.
The Warangal district chief, Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, dashed off a letter to the party president, Sonia Gandhi, complaining that he was removed from the post without prior intimation.
He said he had headed the district unit for the last 10 years.
Similarly, Nandishwar Goud, party MLA from Patancheru, lamented that the State Congress leadership had dropped the lone BC legislator from the district and appointed Bhupal Reddy, MLC, as in-charge and conveyed his unhappiness to Mr. Satyanarayana.
To avoid further damage, Mr. Satyanarayana has put on hold the appointment of in-charges for the remaining districts.
