VISAKHAPATNAM: An 11-year-old boy from Jammalapadu in Bhogapuram mandal of Vizianagaram district is being treated for cutaneous anthrax at the King George Hospital here.

The boy would recover soon but two more cases of cuteneous anthrax were being sent from the village to the hospital, said KGH Superintendent T. Raviraju.

After Surappadu was referred to KGH on Wednesday by a doctor in Tagarapuvalsa whom the boy’s parents had approached for treatment, KGH alerted the District Medical and Health Officer and Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry of Vizianagaram. The officials who went to the village for examination found two more cases of cutaneous anthrax, according to information received here.

It may be recalled that some cases of cutaneous anthrax from the agency area of the district were treated about one year ago.
