Two-day festival being organised on October 6 & 7 to mark the occasion
NELLORE: Annamacharya Aradhana Samithi will organise a two-day festival to mark the 600th birth anniversary of saint poet Annamacharya at the Town Hall here on October 6 and 7.
As part of the festival, the committee will take out ‘Nagara Sankeerthana (singing procession) on Saturday at 8.30 a.m. from Sri Talpagiri Ranganatha Swamy temple in the town to the venue of the festival -- Town Hall.
Classical singer D. V. Suresh Rao would lead the procession, Samithi president K. V. Sudhakar Raju and vice-president Vijayakumar Reddy told reporters on Thursday.
Local musicians as well as TTD Annamacharya project artistes would render popular numbers from Sapthagiri Sankeerthanas as part of the communal singing at 6 p.m..
Collector M. Ravi Chandra, ZP Chairman K. Govardhan Reddy and others would take part in the event.
The first day of the festival would conclude with a concert by Gurajada Madhusudhan Rao.
On Sunday, Akhanda Govinda Nama Smarana (uninterrupted recital of Lord’s names) would be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Classical singers -- D. Rajyalakshmi, Balarka and Lakshmi Prasanna -- and students of music and dance school besides members of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON) would participate in the event, they said.
