HYDERABAD: A press conference addressed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Bandaru Dattatreya was disrupted for a while when some party activists from Medchal Assembly constituency barged into the media hall in the State BJP headquarters.

They were protesting against allotment of the party ticket to Bhasker Reddy, an educationist who joined the party on Monday and immediately named as the candidate for Medchal seat.

Raise slogans

Raising slogans, supporters of local BJP leaders, Vikram Reddy, Muthyalu Goud, Venkat Reddy and Ramoji entered into an argument with Mr. Dattattreya and threatened not to work for the party’s success if a “non-local” was given the ticket. They were virtually pushed out of the room even as State BJP chief assured them that he would discuss the issue with them later.

Describing it as “internal matter” of the party, Mr. Dattatreya said the problem would be sorted out.
