The appointment of Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) Vice-Chancellor has left the government seriously embarrassed as it had to stop the issuance of the order, citing legal problems after the Governor, E.S.L. Narasimhan gave his nod on Thursday afternoon.

The Governor signed the file appointing A. Padma Raju as the Vice-Chancellor in the afternoon and the order was expected to be issued by the government in the evening. Mr. Narasimhan was apparently kept in dark about the V-C’s appointment issue pending in the High Court.

Only after his signature did the officials realise that the order could not be issued as Prof. Raju’s selection was challenged in the High Court.

Kiran apologises

Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy met the Governor in Raj Bhavan in the evening apparently to apologise for the unpleasant development and the Governor is said to have expressed his displeasure.
