The Gagan Mahal Trust, which holds the annual Ananta Animutyalu awards ceremony, informed that the ceremony for the year 2011-12 would be held on January 28 at Government Junior College in Penukonda.
The trust has, as an annual affair, been holding an awards ceremony to felicitate renowned personalities who belong to Anantapur district as a recognition of their service to the nation and for bringing laurels to the district.
This year, the trust's president J. Pratap Reddy told The Hindu that awards would be conferred upon 22 members amongst which would be former Chief Justice of India Justice M.N. Venkatachaliah besides celebrated scientists Roddam Narasimha who works at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, and Dr. B.N. Rao former scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Justice Venkatachaliah hails from Manepalli village of Lepakshi mandal while Roddam Narasimha belongs to Roddam mandal headquarters in the district.
Among the awardees would also be the cricketer from the district who plays for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, K.S. Shahbuddin besides SKU Vice-Chancellor K Ramakrishna Reddy.
