In all, 1,500 students of Bhadrachalam Public School and Junior College organised the ‘One nation reading together' programme by reading newspapers and books of their choice under the supervision of their teachers at the institution at Sarapaka near Bhadrachalam on Friday.
The students of the institution enthusiastically participated in the annual event, which was aimed at promoting the habit of reading, a press release issued by the school said.
Students read a wide spectrum of publications of their interest for half an hour during a session exclusively devoted for the purpose. The programme was conducted under the supervision of school principal and administrator G. Prabhakar Reddy and librarian Suresh Roy.
Earlier, Mr. Prabhakar Reddy explained the objective of the national programme. The programme had been designed to make reading a pleasurable and enriching experience for children. It would not only help the students hone their reading skills but also enrich their knowledge base, he said.
He appreciated the students for taking an active part in various other literary events held as part of the National Library Week celebrations at the institution.
