NGOs launch food distribution programme on Republic Day

Society for Hunger Elimination (SHE), a national body headquartered at Tirupati, formed with the objective of eradicating poverty and food wastage, launched its first programme at People's Action for Social Service (PASS) campus here on Thursday, coinciding with Republic Day.

Former Speaker of State Assembly Agarala Eswara Reddi formally declared the event open and said the spirit of Republic could be achieved only with total elimination of hunger from the country. Bangalore-based Captain S. Ramakrishna and his wife Arundhati sponsored the first programme, where food was served to 200 physically/mentally challenged and aged persons.

SHE president V. Rajagopal and secretary K. Sudhakar Reddy, PASS director Balakrishna Murthy took part.
