In a bizarre incident, a CTC Sanjeevini ambulance on Tuesday met with an accident on the second ghat road leading to Tirumala.

The ambulance was on its way back to Tirumala after admitting a devotee, Sarasa, 50, a native of Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, who suffered a heart stroke while she was half-way on the Alipiri footpath at SVRR hospital. The mishap took place when the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle and hit a tree about 6 km from the Alipiri security checking point.

According to the police, while the driver of the vehicle, Madhu Babu, got his leg fractured, the paramedical officer, who accompanied him, sustained head injuries.
