221 polliting stations set up in Prakasam district
ONGOLE : All arrangements have been made for holding elections to graduates, teachers and local authorities constituencies of Legislative Council in Prakasam district on March 17.
Speaking to newspersons here on Friday, District Collector B Udaya Lakshmi said there were 101 polling stations in the graduates constituency, 61 in teachers constituency and 60 in local authority constituency. There are 56,000 voters in graduates constituency, 4,700 voters in teachers constituency and 935 voters in local authority constituency.
About 930 employees are drafted for election duty in the district. After the election, the ballot boxes in teachers and graduate constituencies would be dispatched to Chittoor while those in local authority constituency would be stored in Ambedkar bhavan here for counting.
Superintendent of Police Vineet Brijlal at a separate press conference said adequate bundobust arrangements were made to ensure free and fair poll. He said armed policemen would be posted at every polling station.
There are 75 sensitive, 26 hyper-sensitive and 49 extremist affected polling stations in the district. Nearly 1800 persons were bound over and they included 385 rowdy sheeters, 626 TDP and 571 Congress workers. Nearly 116 non-bailable warrants have been executed.
