‘Set up school in Narasapuram mandal headquarters'
All party leaders, sarpanches, women, students and people of Kasinayana mandal came in over 50 vehicles and staged dharna before Kadapa Collectorate on Thursday demanding that a model school be set up with Central government funds in Narasapuram mandal headquarters.
Raising slogans not to politicise the model school issue, the Model School Sadhana Porata Committee leaders said Narasapuram has necessary facilities for establishing the proposed model school. TDP State organising secretary S. Goverdhan Reddy and leaders S. Subhan Basha and V. Ravisankar Reddy, AISF district president Madduleti, CPI (M) Badvel divisional secretary Chandrasekhar and leaders of other student unions participated and accused leaders of trying to set up the school in Kondarajupalle, a remote place.
Rajampet Revenue Divisional Officer recommended setting up of the model school at Narasapuram and acquired necessary land, but the education officials proposed to set it up at Kondarajupalle without examining the land under pressure from the ruling party leaders, they alleged.
Functionaries of all parties had been agitating at Narasapuram since a week demanding establishment of the model school in the mandal headquarters, they said.
In-charge Joint Collector G. Krishnamohan Reddy assured the committee members that he would inquire into the issue and send a report to the people citing the people's aspirations. A decision would be taken on the government's directions, he said after perusing their memorandum.
Meanwhile, several protesters proceeding to the dharna in Kadapa demonstrated near Ankalamma temple at Mydukur when Mydukur Rural Circle Inspector Srinivasulu and staff allegedly obstructed their vehicles. After some time, the CI allowed the vehicles to proceed to Kadapa on the directions of senior police officials.
