VISAKHAPATNAM: If the Government stopped show business and believed in team work, we will also support it to get national project status to Polavaram project, Praja Rajyam leader K. Chiranjeevi said during the first day of his three-day tour to the district on Saturday.

He would take the battle to Delhi if the people and farmers supported him and only pressure exerted by all would help in realising the people's dream, Mr. Chiranjeevi told the people during his bus Yatra at Payakaraopeta, Addu Road and Elamanchili. He is scheduled to visit Atchyutapuram and Anakapalle and the first day's tour is expected to end after mid night. “We have to wake up the Government from its deep slumber”, he said.

On the charge of his tour was a political stunt, the PR leader said no one raised objection when the Babli dam's height was raised and checkdams and bridges were built across the Penganga. “But when I am trying to get water to our State, they say it is a political stunt”. Thousands of farmers committed suicide during the Telugu Desam rule and the Congress rule but the Governments did not even provide them compensation, he said.

‘No truck'

Mr. Chiranjeevi ruled out the PR having a truck with other parties in the future elections. Without naming the Congress, he said his party was not in a need to support a party that won two consecutive elections and keen to win the third.

“Praja Rajyam had lost because of its organisational deficiencies and not due to lack of people's support,” he added.
