A local court here on Thursday gave some more time to petitioner K. Karunasagar to get approval from the government to take up a case under Section 295A of IPC against Majlis MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi for his alleged hate speech in Nirmal and Nizamabad district.
Presently, the legislator is in judicial remand in Adilabad district jail.
Acting on a petition filed by Mr. Karunasagar, the seventh Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate asked him to get approval from the government by February 28.
The petitioner said he had submitted applications to the Principal Secretaries of Home and Law departments requesting them to give permission for prosecuting the MIM legislator under Section 295A, but there was no response from them till now.
The petitioner said he sought more time from the court hoping that the state government would consider his plea.
