District Collector V. Seshadri described Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman Ajeya Kallam as a ‘role model’ for civil servants for his integrity and administrative acumen.

At a meeting organised in honour of Mr. Ajeya Kallam at Dr. YVS Murthy Auditorium at AU College of Engineering campus on Friday, the District Collector was all praise for the Port Chairman, who had also served as District Collector of Visakhapatnam in the past.

Former Mayor D.V. Subba Rao described Mr. Ajeya Kallam as ‘saintly’ and ‘fearless’ individual who stood steadfast in face of pressures from political leaders and earned people’s goodwill. Reading out the citation, former AU Rector A. Prasanna Kumar recalled that Mr. Ajeya Kallam had taken over as Chairman of VPT four years and seven months ago when the global recession began to hit the maritime trade and industry and when pollution was rising alarmingly in the city. He hailed the contribution of the VPT chief for the twin objectives of modernisation of the port and elimination of pollution hazards caused by port operations. MD of Vijay Nirman S Vijaykumar and a number of other elders of the city participated in the felicitation organised by the committee of hosts.
