This year an age old feature will be missing at ‘Numaish’, the Ajanta Gate. The edifice that has become synonymous with the All India Industrial Exhibition was demolished recently. Instead, a new iron structure and an arch are being constructed in its place.
The axe fell on the structure as it had become very old and there was a chance of its collapsing anytime. “Now a new structure is being constructed using steel. It will also give a different look to the entrance,” says an official of exhibition society.
With just a fortnight remaining for the exhibition to start, renovation of ticket counters at this entrance is underway. Construction workers are busy giving final touches to it. About ten ticket booths are going to be set up here for the convenience of the visitors. In contrast to the earlier practice of purchasing entrance ticket at a little distance from the Ajanta Gate, people can now buy the tickets at the new counters adjacent to the gates.
