The team of the engineering students claims that the principle by which the car runs on air is original
WARANGAL: Six students of Christu Jyothi Institute of Technology & Sciences (CJITS), Jangaon came up with a innovation wherein they showed that it was possible to run a car with just air without using petrol or diesel.
N. Joy Kumar, the team leader and his batch mates who just completed B Tech (mechanical) from the institute came out with a prototype of an air car. He claims the principle as original. It is based on sending pressurised air into cylinder which gives the piston movement which in turn would run the motor.
“The French made a prototype of the air car. But, the principle we came out with is original in the sense that it is different from that of the French engineers,” explained Mr. Joy Kumar.
The concept was developed by Puli Ravi Kumar of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal. It was he who guided the CJITS students to implement the idea.
The students with financial assistance from Fr. K. Vijay Kumar Reddy, head of the CJITS, have made it a reality. The model was displayed here at the institute campus here on Thursday. Registrar of JNTU, Hyderabad Dr. Saibaba Reddy was the chief guest of this function.
Mr. Joy Kumar said the air car does not need any radiator as there was no combustion. “This is totally pollution-free. We have obtained the patent and we will plan to come out with a full-fledged model next year,” he explained.
