The All India Lawyers’ Union (AILU) requested the State Government to give a matching grant of Rs.10 crore to the Advocates’ Welfare Fund to be able to take up welfare schemes on a larger scale. A resolution to this effect was passed in the union’s State executive committee meeting held here on Saturday.

The AILU has passed other resolutions seeking medical assistance to be increased to Rs.1 lakh from the existing Rs.50,000, retirement benefit to be paid at the rate of Rs.5,000 per year up to a maximum of Rs.2 lakh and death benefit to be increased from Rs.3 lakh to Rs.5 lakh.
