The BJP leader addresses `swagat sabhas' at several places

GUNTAKAL (ANANTAPUR DT.): Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L.K. Advani has attributed the large number of farmers' suicide in Andhra Pradesh in the recent years to the policies adopted by the Central and State Governments.

The BJP will demand constitution of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for probing the suicide in the next session of Parliament. Launching his Bharat Suraksha Yatra in the State here on Saturday, he said more than 4,000 farmers committed suicide in the State so far. . He also attributed the backwardness of Rayalaseema region to the poor governance over the years. Expressing dismay over the factional and political killing in Rayalaseema, particularly in Anantapur district, he called upon political parties in, particularly the Congress and the TDP, to shun violent confrontation.

He addressed "swagat sabhas" (street-corner meetings) at Guntakal, Gooty, Pamidi, Anantapur, Bathalapalli, Dharmavaram and Penukonda in the district.
