Two tribal people, including one from Odisha died allegedly after consuming adulterated Jeeluga Kallu (a variety of toddy locally brewed in the Agency) in Araku Valley mandal on Friday night.
Eight others are recovering at the Araku Valley’s Area Hospital where they were admitted in the early hours of Saturday.
According to reports reaching here, some villagers of Todubanda went to the nearby Kuriselu in the afternoon for consuming Jeeluga Kallu. Soon after some villagers from Odisha came to visit their relatives at Kuriselu and they also consumed the toddy.
They also fell sick. Gimidi Arjuna (45) of Todubanda died at Kuriselu and Krishna Murthy of Gollurivalasa in Odisha died after returning to his village.
The eight undergoing treatment were recovering, Medical Officer of Area Hospital Jayakrishna Murthy said.
