Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah has said that all the 16 model schools that have been setup in the first phase would function from the impending academic year (2013-14).
Classes in the model schools at Vizianagaram, Kothavalasa, L. Kota, Vepada, Denkada, Bhogapuram, Nellimarla, Dattirajeru, Merakamudidam, Mentada, Salur, Kurupam, Gantyada, Therlam, Gajapathinagaram, and Makkuva, would begin from next month.
The schools that have been setup to match standards of the corporate schools have all facilities. Adequate number of teaching and non-teaching staff has been appointed in each school. Lottery system is being adopted for admitting 80 students each in classes 6, 7 and 8.
Similarly, he said 20 students each would be admitted in first year intermediate MPC, BiPC, MEC, and CEC groups based on marks obtained in SSC or equivalent public examination. The Collector said that admissions into class 9th, 10th, and intermediate second year would begin from 2014-15.
Though there was no guidelines on income limits of parents, children of lower income groups would be given priority. The rule of reservation 15 per cent of seats for SCs and six per cent for STs, 7,10,1,7,and 4 per cent respectively for BC – A, B, C, D, and E categories would be implemented strictly. In all reserved categories 3 per cent of seats for physically challenged and 33.33 percent for girls were earmarked. The applications for admission are available in respective mandal educational offices free of cost. The Collector said that 3,840 pupils in classes 6, 7 and 8 and 1,280 in intermediate first year would be enrolled for 2013-14 academic year. He appealed to parents to admit their children in model schools.
