Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah has instructed the authorities to deduct two-days worth salary of those polling personnel who abstain from their duties in the third phase of the panchayat elections. Besides, he also directed the authorities to take disciplinary action as per the Peoples Representatives Act and CCA rules.
At a review meeting here on Sunday, the Collector said that the absenteeism of the polling personnel had caused lots of problem during the first and second phase of polling in the district. He informed all polling personnel deployed for duties to report to their respective reception and distribution centres in various mandals on July 30 at 9 a.m. sharp. The polling personnel, who abstained from their duties on July 30 and 31, will be dealt with severe departmental action besides having to forgo two-days worth salary, he noted.
He asked the authorities to provide separate counters for Pos, APOs and others at the reception counters for early distribution of polling material. He also directed the officials to take measures for the conduct of polling in five villages of Pankena, Palmela, Sarvaipet, Lenkalagadda and Peddampeta villages of Mahadevpur mandal, which were postponed due to incessant rains and floods during the first phase. The Collector had also appointed district officials as special officers for various mandals for the smooth conduct of the third phase of polling in Karimnagar division.
