TIRUMALA: One pilgrim was killed and five others were injured, two of them seriously, when the car in which they were travelling met with an accident on Tuesday on the first ghat road leading to Tirupathi.
According to the Tirumala police the accidnet occurred when the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle while negotiating a deep curve on the ghat road about five kilometres from here and overturned.
While Ananda Naidu (60) native of Ramachandrapuram mandal (Tirupathi rural ) died on the spot Mahesh (35) and Jayalakshmi (60) sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to the Sri Venkateswara
Super Speciality Hospital ( SVIMS ). The other three injured were admitted at the government run SVRR hospital at tirupathi.
Police said that all the five injured belonged to the same family and were returning to their native place in Chennai after having the darshan of the Lord.
