Company to launch corrosion-proof cement ‘Coastal Plus’

The production capacity of ACC’s cement plant at Duvvada will be increased from 30,000 to 45,000 tonnes per month, company’s director (sales) Kurian Chandapillai said on Thursday.

After opening the new area office here, he told The Hindu that the unit at Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone, Duvvada, acquired by them four years ago, was being revived with an investment of around Rs.80 crore. He said they were ramping up production by launching ‘Coastal Plus,’ a corrosion-proof cement.

He said their company was investing about Rs.3,500 crore on modernisation of three old plants in the Eastern Region to double production capacity from five million tonnes in the next one-and-a-half years to two years.

Stating that they had a market share of 21 per cent, he said notwithstanding the slowdown in the economy, they were doing good business in the Eastern Region due to launching of several infrastructure projects in Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal with a growth rate of eight to nine per cent.
