In a nice gesture, a 78-year-old woman wished that her body be donated to a medical college.
The compassionate woman, Y. Rukmanamma, mother of four sons and a daughter, wished that she should be useful to society even after her death.
“It was the last wish of my mother,” remarked her son Y. Jagannadham while handing over the elderly woman's body to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences here.
Thanking the family members for their progressive attitude, RIMS Director B. Anjaiah told reporters here on Friday that the body would be kept with the Anotomy department for the benefit of students. Dr Anjaiah appreciated C.A. Prasad of the blood bank for facilitating donation of the woman's body. More and more people should come forward to donate their organs, said Anjaiah, a paediatrician.
