A ‘towering' problem indeed

‘Towering' problems continue to keep the police personnel on the edge despite taking precautionary measures to prevent suicide threats from floodlights and towers in twin cities.

Two police constables were posted at four floodlights at L.B. Stadium, Basheerbagh and a tower at the office of All India Radio (AIR) in front of State Assembly fearing that agitated groups may use any of these structures to grab attention.

But a sacked home guard surprised everybody, including the police by managing to sneak into AIR office and scaled the tower. Later, the home guard kept everybody on the tenterhooks by threatening to take the plunge from the tower.

The on-duty policemen were quite surprised and visibly shaken when they realised that despite their vigil, the home guard somehow managed to sneak into the AIR office and climb the tower.

Indeed, it has become a ‘towering' problem for the police.
