The second day of the Navy Mela was like a dream come true for many children who longed to board a ship.
As part of the Navy Mela, INS Savitri, an offshore patrol vessel hosted a treat to differently-abled children from various schools in the city. More than 175 children from Sankalp, Arunodaya Special School, Lebeshilfe, Omkar and Lion School of Deaf and Dumb, Sunflower Special School, Bethany School, Mandala Vikalangula Sankshema Sangham and Pavani Institute boarded the ship and took part in various competitions and cultural programmes.
On Thursday, the children were guided during the tour and a PowerPoint presentation was made to them on the fleet activities. The day’s activities included magic show, singing competition and other talent tests.
All the children were provided an elaborate meal on board and were given T-shirts, caps and gifts by the Eastern Fleet. Commanding Officer of INS Jalashwa Captain Mahesh Singh and Manita Singh interacted with the children on the ship.
