Transfer your pictures onto just about anything from photo albums to pillows
HYDERABAD: Coffee mugs with smiling faces, t-shirts with your favourite pictures and calendars full of memories are no longer that hard to come by.
In a world of expanding services, the photo retail industry is diversifying in new and interesting ways.
Photo frames and collages are no longer the only ways to display pictures. Key chains, greeting cards, mugs and calendars all come with photographs, tailor-made to your demands.
The ‘HP Photo Land’ counter in the recently-opened Landmark store in the city is proof of this. The one-stop photo shop allows you to print, personalise and transfer your pictures onto just about anything from photo albums to pillows! Walk in with a pen drive, pick your background, choose your product and within matter of minutes you have a coffee mug or a greeting card looking the way you want it.
Though HP has provided photo printing technology elsewhere, the Photo Land concept with all its added services is unique to Landmark. “This is the first time we have set up Photo Land and the response has been great,” says Dheeraj Talwar, sales manager, Landmark. “We have even installed another machine at the cash counter to ease the rush on weekends.”
As customised knick knacks become a fad, not every picture is good enough for the honour. Mr. Talwar says, “Many people get their pictures clicked specifically for this because they are not happy with the snaps they have.” Key chains and booklets full of pictures of all shapes and sizes have proved to be the most popular but it’s not too rare for someone to opt for a pillow.
