TIRUPATI: The students were second to none, in their own respective arenas. At the Rayalaseema-level competitions conducted at Sri Tyagaraja Hall here on Saturday by Jawahar Bal Bhavan, which works under the Department of School Education, competitions were conducted in dance, painting, music, essay writing, science and technology and even for the physically challenged to kindle creativity in them and unearth talent. A science fair was conducted where students arrived in large numbers from several places with their static/working exhibits and explained the science behind them.
Students of Chittoor, Kadapa, Anantapur, Kurnool, Nellore and Prakasam vied for the ‘Bala Ratna’ awards --given to children in the 05-16 age group, and ‘Bala Surya’ award for those below 5 years of age.
Similar competitions were conducted recently at Khammam for students of Telangana region and at Vijayawada for those from coastal Andhra region. Winners of Saturday’s competitions will compete at the State-level competitions to be held on October 11 in Hyderabad.
