Installation of Youth Red Cross unit in Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala
Personality development must for students: MLC
Unlettered parents are no longer a constraint for them
VIJAYAWADA: It was a celebration of responsibilities entrusted to student representatives in Sri Durga Malleswara Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala.
As the names of the leaders appointed at various levels were called out amidst wild cheers, the audience broke into a huge round of applause approving of their leadership. The leaders shun their cloak of diffidence and accepted duties with utmost humility.
The investiture ceremony and installation of the Youth Red Cross unit in the junior college was a lively affair spurring even the most impassive lot among the crowd to join the cheerleaders. “Though the primary duty of a student is to study, he or she must also focus on other areas for an all-round development. We live in an era where the world has been reduced to a global village and sky is the limit for growth. Opportunities are galore and it is for the students to make the best of them to develop leadership qualities,” said Member of Legislative Council and chief guest Chigurupati Vara Prasad.
He said personality development was essential especially for girls who were headed for multi-tasking roles. Women had a vital role to play in the development of a family by moulding themselves into the roles of a responsible daughter, a dutiful wife, an affectionate mother and later a doting grandmother. They must tread cautiously and inculcate good habits, approach and attitude for it will broaden their vision,” he said.
He said factors like financial problems and unlettered parents at home were not a constraint any longer for the present-day students, who had equal opportunities waiting for them in almost every field. He said constructive union activities would be of great help to students in gaining a foothold in this competitive world.
Convener of the college P. Lakshmana Rao, principal of the junior college K. Visala, convener of the student union and the Youth Red Cross unit S. Vijaya Lakshmi were also present.
