The 90-year old ‘Ranganadha Bhavan' where the office of the Chittoor District Congress Committee is housed crumbled with a huge thud around mid-noon on Wednesday. There was, however, no report of any casualty as the ancient building which was said to have been visited by national leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Rajendra Prasad has been in a near dilapidated condition and is hardly under use for the last three years.

The vintage building—Ranganadha Bhavan, named after its donor—a freedom fighter, was a major landmark in the town and was a witness to both fruitful as well as stormy party sessions when it was throbbing with life before degenerating itself into a disused structure leading eventually to its complete collapse on Wednesday.
