The Telugu Desam members in the Legislative Council on Thursday registered their protest against the government's failure to check irregularities and misappropriation of funds under the Indiramma Housing scheme.
Leader of Opposition Dadi Veerabhadra Rao (TDP), who raised the issue during question hour, said large-scale misappropriation of funds had taken place under the scheme and lakhs of ineligible persons availed the benefit. Alleging connivance of officers and political leaders in the misuse, he sought to know the steps taken for recovery of the swindled amount. Housing Minister Shilpa Mohan Reddy said in the integrated survey, 12.6 lakh beneficiaries were examined and six lakhs were found to be eligible and 1.3 lakh ineligible. For ascertaining remaining 4.63 lakh cases, grama sabhas were being held. About 900 cases were booked for misappropriation of Rs.46 crore and Collectors were given powers to recover the money under Revenue Recovery Act .
Medical PG seats
A lacuna in the allotment of post-graduate medical seats in violation of the Presidential Order was raised by TRS member K. Dileep Kumar.
Minister for Medical Education P. Sudarshan Reddy assured to look into the issue.
