An estimated 89.78 per cent of voters exercised their franchise in the first phase of elections to a total of 48 Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) in Kothagudem, Bhadrachalam and Sattupalli divisions held on Thursday. According to official sources, the elections went off peacefully in all the three divisions. Sattupalli division recorded 91.96 per cent voting. Bhadrachalam and Kothagudem witnessed 91.79 per cent and 88.75 per cent voting respectively. Election to as many as seven PACS in the three divisions had already been declared unanimous. According to information reaching here, the candidates owing allegiance to the main opposition Telugu Desam Party bagged a significant number of PACs followed by the Congress party. YSRCP candidates reportedly emerged victorious in six PACS.
