Eight persons were injured after a speeding lorry lost control and rammed two cars, three motorcycles and an auto-rickshaw at Sun City bus stop near Narsingi on Sunday.

Of the injured, the condition of two persons was critical. The lorry was proceeding towards Kalimatha Mandir from Tippu Khan Bridge when driver Abdul Nayeem lost control. He was arrested. Nayeem later told police that the brakes of the vehicle had failed.

Bid to rob ATM

Unidentified persons made an unsuccessful attempt to steal cash from an unmanned ATM at Macha Bollarum on Saturday night.

Intruders entered the ATM after switching off power supply inside the premises and to the surveillance cameras, and tried to steal cash. They left the premises after failing to break the machine. The bank had not posted a security guard at the centre, police said.

Tractors torched

Unidentified persons torched two tractors belonging to a farmer, Yellaiah, at his house at Banda Ravirala village in Ibrahimpatnam on Saturday night.

The vehicles were parked near the farmer’s house when the miscreants set them afire using gelatin sticks, police said.
